“Gifts for Giving” Holiday Show and Sale
On Saturday November 17th Prairie Stained Glass, 587 Sargent Avenue, downtown Winnipeg, will kick off the festive season with a holiday sale featuring locally made fine craft. Giftware will include handcrafted jewellery, painting, art glass, and more. All items will be priced from $20.00 to $200.00. Let’s all try to buy local this Giving Season and support each other.
You, your family and friends are invited to the “Gifts for Giving” Opening on November 17th, from 9am to 5pm to visit Jayne Nixon – the show organizer- and to enjoy some refreshments and gingerbread. The sale will continue until Saturday, December 15th. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Winnipeg Harvest, whose staff and volunteers work tirelessly to support those in need. If you wish please bring a non-perishable food item to donate.
Art is Food for the Soul 2012
Last year local glass artists (that’s you!) proudly raised over $800.00 in cash as well as provided over 40 stained glass panels for Winnipeg Harvest. The panels were distributed to the hard-working volunteers of Winnipeg Harvest who are often also dependent upon Winnipeg Harvest for food to supplement their family’s diets.
This year we are going to be making candleholders for Art is Food for the Soul! For a $25.00 donation, you will receive a pattern and enough glass to make two stained glass candleholders. If you are a glass fuser, then we will have a package of glass to make 8 coasters. We will also be collecting non-perishable food items until December 15.
Please take advantage of this opportunity to give back to our community and add a piece of glass art to the life of a deserving fellow Winnipegger!
For the month of November we have a special gift package where part of the proceeds are being donated to MOvember, in support of prostate cancer. Free gift wrapping for this package for the month.

I’ve just returned from Kathleen Black’s opening for her Unattended Sorrows show. If you are in the downtown area sometime before October 12, make sure you visit Medea gallery on Osborne.
Kathleen’s work always has so many facets and layers (physically and emotionally). I can look at her work and then look again to find more treasures that I hadn’t yet seen. I love this new work that includes encaustic. So much fun!!
The piece that is featured on the invitation above is probably my favorite if I was forced to pick just one. You really need to see it in person. As with all of Kathleen’s work, you want to reach out and touch it (but don’t!). I was surprised at the size of the piece. Marvelously big.
